You can enjoyed a panoramic sight of a peculiar village site, as well as on fields and on the valley in general.
Mesocco is an ideal point of departure for excursions in the enchanting and wild valleys of Mesolcina and Calanca and in the uncontaminated nature of St. Bernardino.
It is distant around 30 km from Bellinzona and its castles, 55 km from Lugano and Locarno, 135km from Milan.
By car it is easily reachable by taking the A13 highway towards San Bernardino, exit Mesocco. Or, for those traveling by public transport, train to Bellinzona and bus to Mesocco.
In winter time the snow falls copious along the ridge of the Alps but the valley floor mostly stays free from the snow thanks to the sunshine. During the winter season it is possible to practice many snow activities. In San Bernardino, in addition to various ski tracks, there are several Nordic ski trails that wind through enchanting pine forests and breathtaking landscapes. There is also the possibility of hiking, snowshoeing and ice-skating.
The Misox Valley takes its name from the river Moesa which is born on the San Bernardino Pass, at 2065 meters, and flows into the river Ticino. The Valley’s altitude varies from the 260 meters of the San Vittore Plan to the 3,270 meters of Pizzo Tambo.
The climate that characterizes the Misox Valley is mild. Nature is the main protagonist of the summer season. In fact there is the possibility to practice several outdoor activities. Among them simple walks and hikes, mountain bike trails, hiking trails dedicated to art and culture, fishing and swimming opportunities.
